Maureen opened the meeting at 1:15 pm and welcomed two new members. She noted the $2.00 drop in fee which goes to the Seniors Centre and the $5:00 annual fee to the Club for new and returning members.

Being the first Wednesday in the month and the question and answer meeting, Maureen introduced our moderator, Carl Taylor and asked if there were any more written questions to be submitted and said questions can be asked from the floor later.

- techniques for copying DVDs using Windows utilities/Roxio/imgburn etc
- Clearing cookies from your computer
- Identifying ‘good’ and ‘bad’ cookies
- Security issues and good practice to protect your information
- Logging out from banking site after use
- Managing e-mails – POP Peeper a software package to notify of e-mails
- Use of CCleaner – a system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool.
- Passwords – care and feeding
- use of RoboForm (roboform.com) to manage passwords and security questions
- Anti-virus software – Options and alternatives for ‘free’ and ‘fee based’ software
- AVG antivirus software
- Avast antivirus software
- Panda antivirus software
- Threats from a pop-up malware – Antivirus 2009 (delete using Alt F4)
- Open Office – opportunities for using this ‘free’ software and compatibility with MS Office
