Travel Agents They get no commission from major airlines such as AC, BA, KLM, etc and have to charge you $60 to make a booking. You can do it free on the net. However still check with a good agent as they sometimes get Wholesale deals which do not show on the computer. Agents get commission from Air Transat, Zoom, and other charter companies, and can get a better fare “sometimes”.
They are also insured by the BC government ( see www.bpcpa.ca Travel Industry Regulation) so if a deal goes wrong they may be able to get you a refund, we all remember Canada 3000 a few years ago. Be aware that if you do an airline booking on the net, make sure your C Card covers you for flight Cancellation Insurance (if you get sick), as you must get this within 24 hours of making your flight booking. Go to any Insurance agent for this.
